CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!
Come join LAGFF and learn what it takes to organize a film festival! We are looking for volunteers to help with all aspects of preparation and on site organization leading up to and during this year's festival, which runs June 25-29 in Hollywood. Volunteers will have the opportunity to experience first hand how a film festival comes together and to interact with a dynamic group. Welcome to our 2008 Script Competition Jury!

This year's jury includes:

Stratton Leopold
Executive Producer of blockbusters "Mission Impossible III" starring Tom Cruise, "Paycheck" starring Ben Affleck and "The Sum Of All Fears" starring Morgan Freeman.

Kary Antholis
Senior Vice President of Miniseries at HBO and an Academy Award winning documentary filmmaker whose film "One Survivor Remembers" won both the Oscar for Documentary Short Subject and the Emmy for Outstanding Information Special.

Christina Lazaridi
Academy-Award nomitated writer for "One Day Crossing" and a Columbia University Professor.

Cooper Layne
Writer of "The Fog" (2005) and "The Core," starring Hillary Swank and Aaron Eckhart, as well as Executive Producer of "The Emperor's Club," starring Kevin Kline and Emile Hirsch.

Courtney Flavin
Emmy winning writer ("A Question About Sex,") Writing credits include "Boston Legal," and "The Cosby Show." She also received Emmy, Writers Guild and Humanitas nominations for "Educating Mom."

Deborah Gilels
A 20 year veteran executive and producer, Deborah has developed and produced film and television projects with major studios and companies, among them Wind Dancer, Disney/Hollywood Pictures, New Line Television, ESPN, Hearst Entertainment, Warner Brothers Television, PFG Entertainment, Alive Entertainment, Warp Films and Butcher's Run Films.

We will announce the 3 finalists of the script competition on May 26th.  The winner will be announced at the Orpheus Awards on June 29th.  We received over 70 scripts from around the world! Thanks to everyone that submitted!

Los Angeles Greek Film Festival, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is the first major endeavor to create an annual film festival in Hollywood that showcases and promotes Greek Cinema. LAGFF invites films from Greece and Cyprus, and filmmakers of Greek descent worldwide to submit their features, documentaries and short films. LAGFF presents a variety of film programs, both contemporary and retrospective.
